Preschool Room

The Preschool Room is registered for 32 children aged from

3 years old until they attend Primary School.  This room is much more structured to allow a balance between free play and group activities.

In preparation for school, the children will work on numbers recognition and counting.  They will work on early literacy including  recognising letters, mark making and for those who are reading: learning to write their name. No pressure is put on the children however, they very much learn at their own pace.

The children in this room also enjoy playing in the art area, house corner, construction area, dressing up and using their imagination.  The children very much enjoy the climbing frame and slide in the room.  They also develop independence through self help skills.

The ratio is 1 adult to 8 children in this age group (as set by Care Inspectorate).

Curriculum for Excellence

We aim to help the Scottish Government achieve the aims set in the Curriculum for Excellence, and help the children in our care become Successful learners, Confident individuals, Responsible citizens and Effective contributors.

We do this by ensuring all children have the opportunity to reach their full potential by working on a key worker system to observe and assess, and working with parents to ensure a solid home to nursery link.
